The event took place at the Lucian-Blaga-University on the 18th to 20th of March 2009 in the Avram-Iancu-Auditorium of the university and the room was almost packed to the last seat. The more than 120 participants came from all regions of the country and were representatives of private engineering and planning companies, organisations active in the fields of environment, agriculture and energy, university and research of different faculties as well as agricultural and energy companies.
Representatives of the ProBioPol consortium and German companies presented their experiences with planning and constructing biogas plants as well as on Romanian potentials for feed stock and energy prices, which constitute important frame conditions for investments.
A special focus was on a new law in Romania, which supports producers of green energy by obligatory purchases of “Green Certificates” and thus enhances the economic basis for the operation of biogas plants in Romania. The lectures also discussed the different technologies for humid and dry fermentation and the various feedstocks such as organic wastes or renewable materials. The practical experiences from plant operators, which reported on planning mistakes and corrections, receive special attention.
In order to facilitate the future cooperation and exchange amongst the participants, the project consortium will organise and maintain a biogas network also open for other interested parties.
In April 2009 the project consortium will launch a call for proposals related to the implementation of feasibility studies. Amongst all proposals the best will be selected and will receive financial support to carry out an in-depth feasibility study for biogas plants.
